Welcome to the FCTS Library
The Florida Center for Theological Studies Library provides support for the curriculum through a growing collection of books, monographs, journals and other materials. The Center is committed to building a collection of theological, scriptural and related disciplinary information resources to help prepare students for ministry and to support the educational objectives of all academic programs.
The library facility is housed on the seventh floor of the Miami campus and occupies 7,300 square feet with approximately 30,000 volumes and a journal collection that includes 250 current subscriptions. Spanish and French language materials are also acquired in support of the multicultural student population.
Access to the collections is provided by an online catalog (www.libcat.fcts.edu) for books and other information resources. The online ATLA Religion Database Index is the primary source for locating periodical literature. The FCTS Library is a member of the Florida Library Information Network (FLIN) and the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), and is a founding member of the Florida Theological Library Association (FTLA). SOLINET membership provides access to the worldwide resources of the OCLC database, which includes FCTS catalog records.
Likewise, Miami students and faculty have access to religion collections at nearby universities and colleges. Students at the FCTS Orlando Campus have borrowing privileges at two ATS accredited seminary libraries in Orlando.
The library setting includes group study and seminar rooms as well as individual study carrels. The FCTS Library provides self-service photocopying (for a fee), computer workstations with internet access and video equipment for student use. Wireless internet access is available on both floors of the Miami Campus.
A fortnightly New Books list, available in print and online at the FCTS Library page of www.fcts.edu, informs the seminary community of recent acquisitions.
The Library is open more than 50 hours each week, including evenings and Saturdays. The library schedule is posted on the FCTS Library page of www.fcts.edu. A professional librarian assists with reference and research questions during most of these hours.
BIBLIOTECA
La Biblioteca del Centro de Estudios Teológicos de la Florida contribuye con su apoyo al curriculum mediante una colección de libros, monografías, revistas especializadas y otros materiales; todo lo cual va en aumento. El Centro está comprometido a desarrollar una colección de recursos teológicos, escriturales y de información en otras disciplinas relacionados, para ayudar en la preparación de estudiantes al ministerio y concederle apoyo a los objectivos educacionales de todos sus programas académicos.
El local de la biblioteca es contiguo a los salones de clases y a las oficinas administrtivas y ocupa 7,300 pies cuadrados con aproximadamente 30,000 volúmenes y una colección de revistas especializadas con 250 suscripciones al corriente. Materiales en español y francés han sido adquiridos para apoyar a la población estudiantil multicultural. El acceso a estas colecciones puede conseguirse mediante un catálogo electrónico de libros y el Indíce de Religíon (ATLA Religion Database Index) de literatura publicada periódicamente. La Biblioteca es miembro de la Red de Información de Bibliotecas de la Florida (FLIN) y de la Asociación Americana de Bibliotecas Teológicas (ATLA), y está en proceso de afiliarse a los sistemas de bibliotecas que hacen posible el obtener acceso a las colecciones sobre religión en las universidades cercanas.
La biblioteca provée servicio de fotocopiado (por un precio), computadoras personales, acceso al Internet y DVD/VHS para el uso de los estudiantes. La Biblioteca está abierta más de 50 horas de la semana, incluyendo ciertas horas de la tarde y la noche y sábados. La major parte de ese tiempo, un bibliotecario profesional ayuda a responder preguntas en cuestiones de investigación y referencia.
